A distinctive element that sets PropolisPro apart is the use of extraordinary Manuka honey.

We are proud to be the only propolis throat syrup to include Manuka Honey in our formula, significantly boosting its antibacterial effects.

In this blog post, we’ll explore why we chose it and the incredible benefits it brings.

Description

Propolis is a resinous material produced by bees from the buds of poplars and conifers. Bees use propolis to build their hives, and in its pure form it is greenish brown in color.

M.E.D. this is the exclusive purification process to which Propolis undergoes, obtaining very pure Propolis. Once purified, it is possible to measure the total polyphenol level;

  • M.E.D. 100 contain 1 mg/ml of polyphenols
  • M.E.D. 250 contains 2.5 mg/ml of polyphenols
  • M.E.D. 500 contains 5 mg/ml of polyphenols

Polyphenols are natural compounds contained in propolis, plus the number on the M.E.D. scale, the higher the concentration of polyphenols per serving.

The Manuka honey used in our mouth sprays comes directly from Manuka Doctor’s hives in New Zealand.

Consuming 6 sprays per day will provide 15% of your recommended daily dose of vitamin D.

Why It Work

Propolis

Manuka honey isn’t the only wonderful substance produced by bees. They also produce propolis, a glue-like compound that coats the hive.

It is believed to have powerful wellness benefits, which is why we include it in our Manuka honey for maximum protective power.

This winter, you can strengthen your immunity thanks to our Immune Defense Mouth Spray with Propolis and Manuka. To learn more about magic propolis, keep reading.

So, what exactly is propolis?

Bees produce it from substances they collect from plants, combining them with saliva and beeswax to form a sticky, waxy “glue“, soft and malleable in hot weather and hard in cold weather.

Bees use propolis as a sealant for their hives, to fill cracks, and smooth walls, and form a protective seal against weather and invaders.

It can help maintain humidity in the hive and also has antibiotic properties, believed to help maintain the health of the bees, who all live in close proximity to each other in the hive.

Propolis can vary in color from clear to yellow to red and dark brown and contains resins, waxes, oils, and pollen in varying degrees.

Its composition strongly depends on the region, but more than 300 compounds have been identified. Most of them are antioxidant polyphenols called flavonoids, known to help protect the body.

The well-being link

Ancient cultures knew the benefits of propolis. The Egyptians used it to embalm bodies. And there is evidence that the ancient Greeks and Romans used it to heal wounds.

Since then, it has been used traditionally in various countries around the world and is attributed with antifungal, antibacterial, antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties.

There’s still a lot to learn about propolis, but science is starting to confirm some of the ways propolis can improve your health…

It can help your immune system fight bacteria

Although more research is needed, some studies suggest that propolis may play a role in helping the body fight viruses. Laboratory tests have revealed antiviral properties.

Propolis has been shown to fight the herpes virus that causes cold sores, potentially reducing the duration of an outbreak.

A recent paper also looked at whether it could help against different types of viruses, proposing that its anti-inflammatory and antiviral activity could help the body fight more modern infections and potentially prevent some of the worst effects.

We don’t have enough evidence at this time, but propolis is considered safe for most people (avoid it if you’re allergic to bees or honey) and potentially promising.

It can soothe inflammation

Propolis is traditionally used to calm inflammatory conditions, and some research has shown why it might be helpful.

It has properties that help fight pro-inflammatory substances in the body, thereby increasing the levels of other substances that help reduce inflammation.

It has been used in dentistry and may also play a role in relieving sore throats.

It has antibacterial benefits

Like its cousin, honey, propolis helps fight bacteria. We need more research to show exactly how it works in the body, but one paper found that it reduced the levels of certain bacteria linked to tooth decay.

It might help your body heal

This amazing bee glue has been proven to aid in tissue repair. It is a powerful antioxidant, devouring toxic free radicals that can be produced in the body due to factors such as stress, pollution, and poor diet.
